Wii 2 specs leaked

Hacking group plan another attack on Sony this week

No sooner after have Sony announced the return of the Playstation store, a hacking group LulzSec which according to Forbes have previously hacked Sony's BMG japanese website, have announced plans to attack Sony with phase 1 of their plan starting within a day.

Playstation store should be working by the end of the week

Sony just announced that the PSN, down since April in the wake of an attack by hackers, will be fully restored (for most regions) by the end of the week.

The only regions where it won't be 100% back will be Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea.

PS3 NPDRM Keys found

Several sites are reporting that the Dev group DUPLEX have broke NPDRM protection.

They have released a 3.41 /3.55 fix for Hunted -The Demons Forge - here is a c/p from their nfo

"This release contains a custom pkg (much smaller) with updates making
the release work on both 3.55 and 3.41 !
In order to get this to work on 3.41 we had to decrypt
NPDRM on this one. Yes, NPDRM defeated (eboot.elf included as proof)."

The site is a sub4sub program with a difference, you gain points by subbing to others, with these points you can use them to gain subs, it stays within YouTube's rules by only allowing a max of 35 subs per hour.

Here is an example of how to gain the most subs per point basis:

Set your points given to 3 per sub (3 points spent when people sub to you)
Then look for people that spend 5 or more points on subs = subbing to less people but gaining more points.

I gained 60 subs within 40 minutes. The up side to using this is that the subs are active and not bot generated accounts.

XSS Vulnerability found on Sony PlayStation Store Website

It looks like Sony PlayStation Store Website still has flaws in it and pretty major ones at that.

This XSS Vulnerability could be misused by hackers for phishing ie gaining your details. This lets XSS execute javascript code on a webpage that could steal your cookies and possibly steal your session and let the phishers impersonate you.

In the screenshot you can see that the backlink code behind "Back" button has been modified using XSS.

This exploit is done using Firefox and a bit of knowledge, and will not be posted on this forum.

The hackers that found this state that 70% of Sony's sites they tested still contained flaws.

PS3 System Software Update v3.70 Spotted

Earlier today, PlayStation revealed a new official headset that will be released later this year in September. A great addition to the PS3 accessory collection. Now you can game, listen to music, and chat with 7.1 surround sound wirelessly on your PS3. With that bit of news, a largely overlooked detail was found. That detail would be the following:

Surround sound on the PS3™ requires system software version 3.70 or later. Surround Sound does not work with Blu-ray Disc movies

The PS3 is no stranger to FW updates, the most recent v3.61 was needed to get back onto the PSN and reset your password after the security breach. In the past updates have been used for several reasons, to add security measures, to fix system issues, and also to add additional features and capabilities.

As of the moment, we have no information on what the update will include or when exactly it will be released although it will likely be before September’s headset release. But with E3 just around the corner, one can only imagine. Surround sound is already integrated in the PS3′s hardware so although the description might be misleading to some, we know it’s not that. However, because this accessory requires it, the FW update will likely be adding system capabilities and functions to the system’s software. Smaller updates usually put the version up by .01 whereas the more significant updates see a change at least to the next tenths. Are they just making the system compatible with the new headset? Could we finally be seeing the [unlikely] integration of cross-game voice chat? Or will it be something else?

Sony: PlayStation 4 development is already underway

Sony has confirmed that it has already begun development on PlayStation 4.

The company's EVP and chief financial officer Masaru Kato told a conference call today that work on the system is "already underway".

He revealed that production resource was factored into costs for the company's full year financial results, which were released yesterday.

Sony has once again been targeted by hackers this week, a month after the massive theft of personal data of millions of users in the group.

According to the ISP So-Net, a subsidiary of Japanese giant, its system has been an intrusion that has to steal virtual loyalty points converted into cash.

This is the 3rd attack on Sony in just over a month. Both the Playstation Network (PSN) and Sony Online Entertainment have respectively been the target of hackers mid-April and 2 May.

Modern Warfare 3 to Feature Bigger Story and More Destruction This Fall

While still unannounced, sources who have seen the game in action tell Kotaku that the next Call of Duty will be a Modern Warfare 3 that pushes the bar on what people have come to expect from the series. And it hits this fall.

The yet-to-be announced sequel is under development by Infinity Ward, though a swath of those developers left the company in a civil-litigation uprising last year. The team is being assisted by newly minted Activision studio Sledgehammer Games, we're told. We've also heard that Raven Software may be involved.

The Call of Duty series has long alternated between two sets of stories and timelines. The games made by Treyarch have typically been set during the events of World War II, though last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops moved the setting to the Cold War of the 1960s. Starting with 2007's Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward's Call of Duties all took place in a modern day setting.

Sony almost certainly has employees present on these IRC channels since they are open to all, and this is a chat room on the PS3 development.

Thus, in making these statements on IRC, Trixter wanted Sony to take account and update our servers to protect against faults.

PSN Restart now Delayed as Hackers Publish Stolen Data!

Sony has broken another promise, originally they planned to restart the PSN network this weekend as per their previous 'press releases' earlier this week, but were quickly forced to delay the re-launch of the PSN and SOE networks as the previously rumored 'third wave' attack did infact start to appear tonight!

This time, the still unknown 'hackers' started their 'third wave' attack by accessing an old unused Playstation website from 2001, and publishing what they found on other public websites, a complete list of all the contest winners with over 2,500 very detailed personal information, it not known at this time if more attacks are still coming in against other Playstation websites.

A Sony spokeswoman confirmed with Reuters that relaunching within the original expected time frame would not be possible, and there is no firm date for the return of online services.

There is no real information on these just speculation which points to "wipeout2048" being a NGP release and "Wipeout Trinity" being a release of 3 previous titles in HD or a new game completely.

To get Pack A Punch Machine you first need to make the director George A Romero angry then turn the power on which is located at the top of the ship.
After you've done that at the beginning of the next round there will be sounds of a lightening storm then a strike of thunder then look up to the light house and you will see a light beam shining down to the water where you will find the Pack A Punch Machine.

PSN and SOE Attacks an Inside Job?

According to online reports, Sony had fired ~200 employees from SOE a few days before the PSN massive attack which led to the compromise of user personal information. A 2 week notice was handed out on March 31st, 2011 which gave whomever enough time to think, plan and act on the PSN attack – and would have all the clearance to easily to do it . Whats even worse is that if it DID turn out to be a inside job then the ex-employee could potentially have the tools to un-hash the stolen passwords and possibly even have the tools/resources to decrypt the important information such as your credit card numbers. Sony are having a really bad time at the moment, some may say karma, with PSN being down for two weeks you would think that Sony has had a enough “punishment”, but it seems not, as news emerges that SOE(Sony Online Entertainment) was closed down today, due to a security breach, Sony believe this breach, happened around the same time as the PSN breach, here is a quote from the press release: click here

E3 2011 - Rumors

Everyone in the gaming industry is waiting for E3 2011 to see what titles will be announced, are the rumors about "project cafe" true? Will Sony gain some of their recent lost support back? Will Microsoft dominate?

As always the rumor mill is on fire as it always is around the time of E3, below are some of the hot rumors on various forums and gaming sites.

PS4 & XBOX 720
With the talk about "Project Cafe" people are talking about Sony and Microsoft announcing their Next-Gen consoles at E3 also.

My opinion is that this rumor is false, it is just people jumping on the hype of Nintendo's console and assuming Sony and Microsoft will do the same when in reality neither of them need to, unlike Nintendo whose current console sales were dropping.

Major Rockstar title
We would all love to see GTA5 announced at E3 and with rumors of CJ and San Andreas making a come back this seems plausible.

Although a GTA5 announcement is possible I see a Red Dead Redemption 2 announcement more likely, the game gained a big following and the expansion pack Undead nightmare boosted sales even further hence this seems more likely than a GTA5 announcement to me.

Metal Gear Solid 5
Lets face it MGS4 was a success and a follow up title is overdue, I see a new title being announced at E3.

Resident Evil 6
Will Capcom announce Resident Evil 6 at E3? Gamers across the internet are hoping this rumor is true.

My opinion is Capcom may show a very short trailer of something in the early stages of production, I see an announcement of a Dino Crisis remake myself.

Obama Says Bin Laden Is Dead

Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the most devastating attack on American soil in modern times and the most hunted man in the world, was killed in a firefight with United States forces in Pakistan on Sunday, President Obama announced.

In a dramatic late-night appearance in the East Room of the White House, Mr. Obama declared that “justice has been done” as he disclosed that American military and C.I.A. operatives had finally cornered Bin Laden, the leader of Al Qaeda who had eluded them for nearly a decade, and shot him to death at a compound in Pakistan.

“For over two decades, Bin Laden has been Al Qaeda’s leader and symbol,” the president said in a statement carried on television around the world. “The death of Bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat Al Qaeda. But his death does not mark the end of our effort.” He added, “We must and we will remain vigilant at home and abroad.”

The death of Bin Laden is a defining moment in the American-led war on terrorism. What remains to be seen is whether it galvanizes his followers by turning him into a martyr, or whether the death serves as a turning of the page in the war in Afghanistan and gives further impetus to the Obama administration to bring American troops home.

Bin Laden was killed nearly 10 years after Qaeda terrorists hijacked three American passenger jets and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon outside Washington. A fourth hijacked jet crashed into countryside of Pennsylvania.

Late Sunday night, as the president was speaking, cheering crowds gathered outside the gates of the White House as word of Bin Laden’s death began trickling out, waving American flags, shouting in happiness and chanting “U.S.A.! U.S.A.!” In New York City, crowds sang "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Regional PSN Accounts Breakdown + Diagram of How PSN Was Hacked

Some literature relating to the recent PSN attacks has leaked out from the recent press conference which Sony held. The literature includes a chart which gives a breakdown of how many PSN accounts are in each region as well as a diagram outlining the intrusion. The files were tweeted out by Mark MacDonald, of 8-4, Ltd and really showcase what an impact the attack had.

Over at ModRetro one of their members have modded a GameCube into a psp similar portable device, video below shows the device fully working with games loaded via a full size SD card.

The device itself is bigger than a psp and weighs a bit more, it has 2 analog pads and a d-pad, it has shoulder buttons and 4 gaming buttons, it seems like you are able to use a GameCube control pad also.
